Oat Bran Muffins and Masoor Dal

I think I've mentioned how much I love it when A makes lentils for dinner. The leftovers are just as wonderful as the original meal. I'm learning too, and these are the rough steps to Masoor Daal

Ingredients:
1 cup orange lentils, the masoor dal
water
1.5 teaspoons of salt
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp red chili pepper
generous sprinkles of garlic powder, paprika, chopped dried onions,
less generous sprinkle of turmeric
fried garlic

Steps:
Put the lentils in the double handled pot. Fill with water so that the level is just below the bolts visible on the inside of the pot. Add all the other ingredients while the garlic is fried. Let simmer for about an hour (at least). Have A take a look and probably add more pepper and paprika. Serve with rice or potatoes.

Oat Bran Muffins
We used to make these pretty often, and I just whipped up another batch today. We roughly follow the recipe on the bag of oat bran, with added goodies like carrots or raisins or walnuts or chocolate chips (or all of the above). Sometimes, we add milk or more yogurt if we don't have banana.
