Lil friend

“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.”--Mark Twain.

It seems people (ahem) have re-purposed this quote to mean:  if you have a bunch of tasks to do, it's best to do the most unappealing one first.
This morning I had a list of things to take care of, one of which I'd been putting off for days. It's a simple task of throwing away a large piece of cardboard that's been sitting in our porch area. But one day it rained. Another day, the dumpster felt too far away. Etc. So, this morning, I woke up, put on my shoes, and decided to "eat the frog" first. I went outside, and lifted the cardboard, and saw some movement, then this:

Look between the two layers. Do you see a little leg?
Well, that was it for me. I went back inside, drank tea, took care of all the other little tasks and ignored what was both literally and figuratively an amphibian.
Several hours later, the sun had come out, I had strengthened my resolve, I had told a few people about my new scary pet, and I realized that this cardboard needed to go before an entire new ecosystem developed a few feet from the front door.
So I went back outside. With gusto. And shook the cardboard.
Then, with as much nonchalance as one could leap, this:
hopped out.
It's the size of a Big Mac. Emphasis on Big.

I did not anticipate Pennsylvania being such a jungle.
