Walking from one patient's room to the next, early morning. In each, a child was awake in his/her hospital bed or crib, staring at the TV, as a parent slept at the bedside. They were watching the same news channel in each room, not understanding these particular flashing lights and words.
(It made me think of the future, as in the future of science fiction novels, the youth all being exposed to a single source of information, broadcast over flatscreens, before they can even talk. Ha)
